Every season I make a bucket list to find little ways to get the most out of that time and really enjoy the season. Since Autumn as already begun, I’m going to share my Fall bucket list with you so you too can romanticize the season.
Fall has always been my favorite season. It really peaked when I lived in DC and New England. My ex and I created so many traditions during those years, like apple picking, baking, etc. I think New England, most of all, lends itself to being the best spot for celebrating Autumn.
So, I want to do a bucket list for Fall that’s a little different than all the others you might see on YouTube or on other blogs! This one takes into consideration things you can do no matter where you are, what the weather is like, or if you experience the traditional Fall or not.
Now that I’m back in Florida it can be hard to feel the vibes of the season because it’s still in the 90s. In fact, as I am writing this, it is October 9th, and we are expecting Milton, a major hurricane, tonight. We don’t really get cooler temps sometimes until January or February here in the South. We definitely don’t see the usual Autumn things here like leaves changing colors. But there are a few things and traditions that I still do to romanticize Fall and savor every moment of my favorite season.
When I’m thinking about things I want to do to savor the season, I go back to what I liked & did as a kid. My house was more Halloween and spooky themed. I come from a long line of witches and witchy women, so our focus was more like a Practical Magic type vibe growing up. My mother always made our Halloween costumes, we always made autumnal treats like popcorn balls, cookies, etc.

Fall Fashion Trends
- I’m really into Ralph Lauren right now – the classic and preppy, quiet luxury, more neutral colors really lend themselves to fall.
- Sweaters – while it may not be sweater weather yet here in Florida, I still love a cozy sweater made from soft materials like cashmere.
- Go thrifting and find a cozy sweater – fits in with the previous trend!
- Cozy and cute socks – maybe we cannot do sweaters here in the South yet, but we can look for cute and cozy socks that we can wear pretty much anywhere.
- Jean Jackets – I LOVE a jean jacket, and it fits right in with my aesthetic. These are perfect options for the South when the nights start to get slightly cooler or for those buildings where the ac is still running in full gear.
- Scarves – I love a good infinity scarf.
- Flannel for the guys – I love my flannel shirts and wear them pretty much all year long. But they definitely get more wear in the Fall months.
- Puffer vests – I have one or two currently that are actually lighter and thinner, so they work well in the warmer Fall months here in the South.
- Too hot – If it is still too hot, like it is here in Florida, you add some Fall vibes to your wardrobe by wearing more autumnal prints or colors, such as: tan, brown, orange, or forest greens.

Cozy Fall Home Decor
- Lighting – add warm lights in orange to your house. We have a garland of orange lights with fall color leaves that we drape over one of our entries. It adds such a nice warm glow to the space.
- Blankets – as it gets cooler here in Florida, we bring out some lightweight blankets in cozy fabrics and autumnal colors. So nice to cozy up under with the dogs while watching a scary movie in front of a roaring fire.
- Candles – I have to buy a new candle for every season, and Fall is definitely one of the best to buy for…hello Pumpkin scented anything.

Fall Food – Treats to Try or Make
- PSL – It wouldn’t be Fall without my Pumpkin Spice Latte, and I make sure to treat myself with one at least once a week.
- S’mores over the fire – not just for Summer camping trips.
- A hearty stew with lots of root vegetables – at the first sign of cooler weather, I love to make a hearty stew or chili.
- Pumpkin bread muffins – this is a MUST on my list for this Fall. I even already have all of the ingredients.
- Popcorn balls – you don’t see these too often anymore, but it was a Fall treat my mother always made for us. We even used to make a bunch to give out for Halloween. The recipe is pretty simple, and I plan on making these soon. When I do, I will make sure to share the recipe here.
- Fall food haul – Trader Joe’s, Whole Foods, Aldi. I’m planning to do a Fall Food taste test on my YouTube channel for Vlogtober, so make sure to go follow me over there.

Cozy Fall Activities & Things to Do
- Visit other cities nearby
- We just visited Charleston and felt Fall like. Check out my Charleston vlog on my YouTube channel.
- Visit a bookstore – get an autumnal drink and browse scary books or fall themed books
- Midnight margaritas – just like Practical Magic – but actually getting up and making them at midnight and dancing around the house.
- Fall & Halloween playlist on Spotify – check out mine here.
- Movie night with a popcorn and topping bar. Think about all the little goodies you could add to popcorn – chocolate chips, nuts, candy, etc.
- Drive in movie date night – we did this about two years ago and it was so much fun. We have a drive in near us that has been open for about 80+ years.
- Ghost tour
- Haunted Hayride
- Farmers Market
- Southern Hills Farm Fall Festival – this is one of my Fall traditions since moving back to Central Florida. This “you pick ’em” farm has a great Fall Festival with a pumpkin patch, hay rides, food, entertainment and more.
- Run a 5K Turkey Trot – I really want to get back into running as the weather cools and this is a great place to start.
- Fall tasting menu at a restaurant – here in Orlando we have what is called Magical Dining that runs through September and October. Over 200 local restaurants do a prix fixe tasting menu, and most of them do fun seasonal menus.
- Camping trip – as it cools off we really want to go camping again. We went last year and it was still too hot and we were miserable.
- Beach day picnic with autumnal goodies. Less sunny in a swimsuit playing in the water and more wrapped up drinking sauvie b and reading a book.
