While I don’t really suffer from super dark under eye circles, I do have some blue undertones in my eye area that I like to mask. At night I like to use an eye cream that focuses more on hydrating and firming the eye area, so during the day I look for a product that will hydrate, reduce puffiness and brighten the under eye area.

After reading some glowing reviews of Tatcha’s The Pearl Tinted Eye Illuminating Treatment, I decided to give it a go.

What They Say

From Tatcha’s website:

The Pearl is a tinted treatment that awakens eyes with a pearl-like luster, hydrates and reduces the look of dark circles and wrinkles — instantly and over time.

This 2-in-1 makeup and treatment formula breaks upon application to deliver both refreshing moisture and natural coverage for a healthy, well-rested look all day.

  • Awakens: Light-refracting pearl pigments work with Akoya Pearl extract in an active skincare treatment formula to restore radiance by helping to address the 3 causes of under eye darkness thinning skin, blue undertones and pigmentation. The Pearl works to address dark circles and fine lines and wrinkles by supporting natural collagen production and inhibiting hyperpigmentation, boosted by niacinamide, known to visibly brighten and firm.
  • Smooths and Protects: Silk powder smooths the look of fine lines and imperfections, while a blend of botanical extracts protects from makeup and pollution that can cause signs of aging.
  • Anti-Aging Hydration: Lightweight cream powered by Hadasei-3™, a proprietary trio of Japanese anti-aging superfoods, and hyaluronic acid nourishes and hydrates for a plump, refreshed appearance.

My Review

First, I want to say that this is not a concealer. A few review videos I watched on YouTube seemed to feel that this was going to cover dark under eye circles like a concealer, but that is not the case. Think of this as a tinted moisturizer for your eyes. It instantly brightens the eye area while also hydrating. If you are someone who needs more coverage, you can put your normal concealer over this.

While The Pearl comes in three different shades (Moonlight, Softlight and Candlelight) it appears very light upon application. However, upon breakdown of the product it seamlessly blends into your own skin color.  You can apply The Pearl with a sponge or brush, but I prefer to use my fingers. The warmth of your finger tips really helps to breakdown this product down so that you get a smoother application.

I am obsessed with this product! It instantly illuminates the eye area leaving my under eye area brighter and smoother. I’m not a fan of heavily applied makeup, I prefer makeup to enhance my features not cover them up. I think products should make your skin look like YOUR skin but just a bit better and more flawless. The Pearl does just that.

While the $48 price tag might seem hefty, I ensure you that this product is well worth the price. A little bit goes a long way, so you only need to apply the tiniest amount for this product to work well, there by insuring that this product will last you a long time.

The Pearl has helped my eye area to appear brighter but I have also seen improvement in that area with continued use as the product states. My eye area has become firmer and smoother with continued use. I’m so in love with this product that I can’t wait to try more skincare products from Tatcha.
