Biossance Brand Review

Biossance, biossance brand review, biossance review,

When I started my clean beauty journey, Biossance was a brand that came up quite a bit. I have tried their products on and off for the past two years so thought it was time to sit down and do a full brand review of what I have tried so far.

Biossance – The Company

Biossance was started in a lab using biotechnology to create a positive impact in the skincare world. They use their background in science to create highly effective skincare using natural and sustainable ingredients.

One of the things that I’m interested in with them is their practice of sustainability. They use non-toxic ingredients, in fact having banned over 2000 ingredients in their formulations. They focus on recyclable packaging and sustainable formulas and packaging.

What is Squalane?

All of their products are formulated with Squalane. I have done a separate post on this ingredient in my 5AM Provisions Amaranth Oil review.

We naturally produce squalene in our bodies but as we age this decreases. Squalane is a more stable version of this. Squalane is a great moisturizing ingredient that helps to minimize irritation, reduces fine lines and wrinkles, locks in moisture, protects the skins lipid barrier and more. It really is a wonder ingredient and I love using it my skincare routine and it has been a huge help in preventing my eczema from flaring up.

Biossance sources their squalane from sugar cane, which is a more sustainable and cruelty free method. Traditionally, squalane has come from shark cartilage and sharks liver.

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil

The blend of Vitamin C, Squalane and Rose Oil makes this a highly effective product. It works well at improving radiance and tone, boosting skin’s firmness and helping hydrate and protect skin.

This is probably one of the best Vitamin C serums I have used. I definitely noticed more clarity in my skin. I love the hydrating addition of the squalane and rose oils. This left my skin brighter, smoother and very soft feeling.

Biossance Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel

This is a very lightweight gel formula but is super rich in how it hydrates. The eye gel helps to reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines and puffiness. It basically does it all.

I felt this left my eye area brighter and smoother. It also works so well because of the lightweight texture that you don’t have to worry about other products like concealer moving around. I really loved this eye cream and the results it left.

As far as being clean, I would not consider this to be 100% clean. It does contain dimethicone and Phenoxyethanol.

Biossance Squalane + Phyto-Retinol Serum

Retinol is one of my favorite anti-aging ingredients to use in my skincare routine. This serum uses Bakuchiol to help reduce the look of fine lines and wrinkles. It also helps to improve the firmness and tone of the skin.

While this is a plant based form of retinol I did find this to be a bit drying and irritating for me. I didn’t like this as much as my Bakuchiol serum from Herbivore Botanicals. As far as being clean, this is not 100% clean either as it contains Phenoxyethanol.

Biossance Squalane + Omega Repair Cream

This is a very rich cream that is full of lipids to deeply moisturize the skin. It is full of ceramides to help protect the skin’s barrier. This cream smoothes and hydrates skin while plumping the look of fine lines. It leaves skin soft and dewy.

I absolutely love the texture of this cream. It is super rich and hydrating. Combined with the Vitamin C oil this left my skin super soft and dewy looking. This is also contains Phenoxyethanol but the texture is lovely.

Final Thoughts

I really love the texture of these products. Everything worked well, without irritation and left skin super soft, hydrated, nourished and glowing. My only complaint it the use of Phenoxyethanol. While the FDA approves this in less than 1% it is something I still trying to avoid when I can.

If you are not too concerned about Phenoxyethanol than I would try these products. They are very beautifully textured and formulated. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions and tell me which Biossance product you would like to try the most.
