Mid-year Reset | Why You Need One | Review Your 2024 Goals
Here we are over halfway through 2024! Are you feeling stuck or in a rut? Feel like you need a little refresh and reset to finish the year? I don’t know about you but like to take a look at my yearly goals in the middle of the year. Do a review of the first half of the year, how is it going? What is working? What is not working? And what needs to change?
Why do people get stuck and why doing a reset is a good idea!
We often get stuck halfway through the year, we start the year off all motivated to set and work towards our goals. But about halfway through the year and we have let our goals go, reverted back to old patterns and habits, and sometimes we just have plain given up. A mid-year reset allows you to take a look back at your goals and reassess what you still need to work on and adjust your goals accordingly.

How to do a mid-year reset for your goals
I think the first thing to do is the most important: spend time in meditation and reflect on the goals you set at the beginning of the year. Go over your goals, use a planner or journal, and ask yourself some questions. What we’re going to change? How was the past 6 months? What do we want to accomplish in the next six months?
Journaling prompts to help you get clarity on your goals:
- What are you grateful for?
- What are you proud of yourself for?
- What have you learned?
- What wins are you celebrating?
- What do I need to work on to help achieve my goals?
Tips & Strategies to do a Mid-year Reset
This year I’ve changed how I approach my goals. I used to attempt every goal I could think of, and do SMART goals, setting very tiny, specific goals such as “I’ll lose x lbs, I’ll make x money, I’ll read 52 books year”.
But then at the end of the year if I didn’t hit those very detailed and specific goals, I’d feel bad about myself. And then ruin any progress I did make. Like because I didn’t hit the goals I set, why bother? Then I would completely give up all hope.
So now I keep my goals small, simple, and consistent
- Keep it small! Pick 1-3 things to accomplish this year. Don’t overwhelm yourself with setting a dozen goals to finish in the next six months all at once.
- Keep it simple! Instead of a huge vision board, pick an image or two that sums of the vibe you want for the rest of the year. I change them out on my phone monthly.
- Keep it consistent! Daily consistent activities and non-negotiables – actionable steps towards the bigger goal are the road to success. A goal without a plan is just a wish! How are you actually going to achieve these goals? What steps do you need to take. Then stay consistent on these actionable steps.
Bonus tips to make the most of the rest of 2024
- Get uncomfortable! Do one thing a day that scares you! Mini quests are a great way to push you outside of your comfort zone (listen to the video below for more on doing mini quests). I couldn’t decide on one mini quest to focus on this year, so I have decided to do one a month and change them out monthly. For July, I’m checking out champagne bars and ranking them to find my favorite.
- Do something for someone else- acts of service are a great way for you to really cultivate an attitude of gratitude. Science proves that we are actually happier when we help others.
