October is probably my favorite month, other than my birthday month of April. October has my favorite season, Fall, and my favorite holiday, Halloween. While living up North for the past 16 years, we had many Fall traditions. When we decided to move home to Florida, Fall was the one thing I was going to miss the most about leaving the North.
So I decided this year that instead of being sad over what I would miss about a New England Fall season, that I would create new Fall traditions here in Florida. So in this editions of “Five Things I’m Loving Right Now” I thought I would share some of the things I’ve doing to celebrate Fall here in Florida.

Fall Festivals
As I mentioned in my last post, we have been hitting a few local Fall Festivals and Pumpkin patches. This week was the first week that the temperature actually started to feel like Fall. So while it was in the 90s recently, we still had a great time visiting a local farm and checking out all the festivities.
We had some great food, listened to some awesome music and picked out some pumpkins from the pumpkin patch. I love that there are so many options in the Central Florida area to do. It definitely has gotten us out of the house on the weekend to see all that is being offered right now.

Fall Baking
I don’t know what it is about Fall but it always puts me in the mood for baking. We recently made some Halloween treats that were favorites of mine growing up. My mother and I would always make popcorn balls around Halloween time for me to take to school.
So my husband and I made some fancy versions of Popcorn Balls and Rice Krispie Treats. And I got to lick the spoon! We also have some plans to make a Pumpkin Cheesecake and other Fall baked goods soon.

Farmer’s Markets
Okay, well these pretty much happen all year long here, but I love visiting Farmer’s Markets in the Fall to check out the fall produce and baked goods. It gives me some great ideas for comfort foods to make at home. What is it about cooking in the Fall? It just seems so warm and comforting.
We recently checked out the Farmer’s Market in downtown Winter Garden and we were pleasantly surprised by how big it was. It is probably the biggest Farmer’s Market I’ve ever been to. There were tons of vendors of pretty much every variety. As well as food trucks, entertainment and more.

Fall/Winter Skincare
Well, I’m pretty much obsessed with skincare all year long. I mean this is a Beauty and Skincare blog after all.
However, as the seasons change so do the needs of our skin. Living up North, Fall and Winter meant drier skin so I had to focus on using more emollient, hydrating and protecting products. My skin has pretty much freaked out since moving to Florida, so I’ve been playing around with some of my skincare to find the right balance for my skin.
And just as I find what works, the seasons change. One of the ways I like to keep my skin in balance is with masks. Particularly right now I’m loving this Collagen Mask from Mario Badescu. It does a great job at cleansing the skin without drying it out. In fact it leaves my skin feeling more hydrated and glowing. It’s enriched with Collagen and formulated with Kaolin Clay to reduce the look of fine lines and helps to reveal more youthful looking skin.

Teaching Yoga
Not only am I a certified Esthetician but I’m also a certified Yoga and Pilates teacher. In fact, before moving to Florida I owned my own Pilates studio and taught Pilates privates and Yoga classes Full Time.
I haven’t found any studios in my area that are actually hiring or that I would want to teach at so I haven’t really taught any type of movement in months, which for me is a kind of depressing to be honest.
I recently taught Yoga for an event at L’Occitane at Disney Springs and it felt great to be teaching again. I didn’t realize how much I missed it and how much my soul needed that. I definitely need to make sure that I have more opportunities to teach again soon. It feeds my soul and really brightens my mood.
So what are you loving for Fall? And favorite Fall Traditions you and your family have? Let me know in the comments. Also, I’m doing Vlogtober currently, where I’m doing a video blog (vlog) everyday in October, so hop over to my YouTube channel and see what else we have been up to for the month of October so far.
